How much does a website cost in Bangalore?

[AGENCY NAME]2 min read

Ask five agencies in Bangalore to quote for "a website" and you will get five very different numbers. That is not because four of them are wrong. It is because "a website" describes an outcome, not a scope, and the scope is where the cost lives.

What actually drives the price

Almost every difference between two quotes comes down to five things.

  1. 01Number of unique page templates. Ten pages using three templates costs far less than ten pages each designed individually. Ask what is being counted — pages or templates.
  2. 02Whether the design is custom or adapted. A purchased theme adjusted to your brand is genuinely cheaper. It also looks like every other site using that theme, and it is usually heavier.
  3. 03Functionality beyond content. Payments, bookings, logins, dashboards, calculators and integrations each carry their own build and testing time.
  4. 04Content. Who writes the copy and sources the images? If it is not you, it is in the quote — and if nobody has scoped it, it will become the reason the project runs late.
  5. 05Migration. Moving an existing site with its URL history is a project in itself, separate from the design work.

Why the same brief gets very different numbers

A freelancer, a small studio and a larger agency have genuinely different cost structures, and all three can be the right answer depending on what you need. A freelancer is cost-effective and fast, with the risk that everything stops if they are unavailable. A studio gives you a team and a process. A larger agency gives you depth and continuity, priced accordingly.

What should worry you is not a high quote or a low one. It is a quote with no scope attached — no page count, no revision limit, no statement of what happens after launch.

The costs most quotes leave out

Build cost is one-time. Running a website is not. Before you compare two proposals, check whether both include:

  • Domain registration and annual renewal
  • Hosting, and specifically the renewal price rather than a discounted first year
  • SSL certificate renewal
  • Business email accounts
  • Premium plugin or theme licences, which usually renew annually
  • Maintenance: updates, backups, monitoring and small content changes

A build quote that ignores all six is not cheaper. It is incomplete, and the gap surfaces in month four when something needs updating and nobody owns it.

How to compare two proposals properly

Put both on the same sheet and check they answer the same questions: how many unique templates, how many revision rounds, who writes the content, what happens if scope changes, what the post-launch support period is, what recurring costs apply, and who owns the code and the domain at the end.

If one proposal answers all of that and the other is a single number in an email, you are not comparing prices — you are comparing how much risk each party has agreed to carry.

Common questions

No. A cheaper website with a clearly defined, smaller scope can be exactly right for a new business. The problem is a cheap quote with an undefined scope, because the gap gets filled with either compromises or change requests.
